According to a report by CNN, the city skylines of Texas in the United States will set new heights in the future. The 315-meter-high Wilson Tower will officially start next year in Austin, the capital of Texas.

After completion, the Wilson Tower will not only become the tallest residential building outside New York in the United States but also provide a solution to the housing crisis in the new high-tech center of the United States.

One of the tallest residential buildings in the United States

According to reports, the skyscraper, called the Wilson Tower, was developed by Wilson Capital and designed by the architectural firm hks. It is 80 stories high and 1,035 feet high.

Upon completion, the Wilson Tower will be the tallest residential building outside of New York in the United States and the tallest in Texas.

The tower will be located in the heart of Austin, the capital of Texas, near the vibrant Sixth Street District, the Austin Convention Center, and the Downtown Light Rail Station.

What attracts attention is that this super high-rise building (over 300 meters in height) is positioned as a high-end residence, and plans to develop 450 high-end apartments, including abundant outdoor space and public facilities.

"The project hopes that by increasing the city's pedestrian traffic space and abundant outdoor dining space, it can increase the urban density of a certain range to accommodate the unprecedented population growth that Austin is experiencing," said the project developer.

It is understood that the apartment types of the building cover from studio apartments to three-bedroom and four-bedroom penthouses, with areas ranging from 44 to 350 square meters.

Residents will also enjoy ultra-luxury supporting facilities, a swimming pool with catering services, a health center, a co-working space, a movie theater, a playroom specially provided for pets, and a beauty center.

Additionally, the design will lift the building's podium off the ground via multiple concrete columns. The "suspended" podium will naturally form a pedestrian shuttle path, providing more public space for citizens, including outdoor restaurants and retail areas, as well as green belts and water landscapes.

It is understood that hks, responsible for the project design, has participated in the design of the world's tallest buildings, including Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Wuhan Greenland Center.

At present, the Wilson Building project is still in the approval and evidence collection stage, and it is expected to start construction in the summer of 2023. The project budget has not yet been announced.

The tallest building in Texas is the JPMorgan Chase Building in Houston, with a building height of 305 meters. However, this height will soon be surpassed in the future.

In September this year, another super high-rise building, the Waterline Tower, broke ground in Austin, with a design height of 311 meters, second only to the Wilson Building. The Waterline Tower will be officially completed by the end of 2026.

Why Austin?

With yet another supertall building here, it's putting Austin in the spotlight again.

As we all know, "Texas has a large area, but its skyline has never been high". As for Austin, many people haven't even heard of the city.

"why Austin?" points out brad Wilkins, design director of the tower project, "because it's a very dynamic place. you'll be amazed by what's happened and what's going to happen here .”

Austin has an urban area of about 700 square kilometers and a metropolitan area of about 11,000 square kilometers, making it the third largest city in Texas.

In recent years, Austin has attracted a large number of high-tech companies and talents because land prices and housing prices are much lower than those in Silicon Valley.

Technology giants such as Tesla Gigafactory, Google, and Microsoft have settled in one after another, and Austin has gradually developed into the latest high-tech center in the United States, so it is also known as "Silicon Hill".

The analysis pointed out that the advantage of Austin is that the cost of living is relatively low.

Although it is located in the south-central region of the United States, where the regional culture is more conservative, the local hills are rolling, the rivers are crisscrossing, the climate is livable, and the business environment is friendly, and the urban temperament is more open and innovative.

"Austin is becoming a dream-seeking place for American technology companies," commented industry insiders.
